ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE DALLAS ARM SHOW
INVITATION TO RUGER COLLECTORS

The Dallas Arms Collectors Association is continuing our tradition of hosting gun collector displays at our September show each year. The 2008 show is scheduled for September 20-21, and will be held at Market Hall, Dallas, Texas. For our September shows each year, we will utilize both sides of Market Hall, which increases our table number from the normal 1800 8-foot tables to approximately 2400 tables. We can place vendor tables from your group near the display area.

We already have a commitment from the Winchester Arms Collectors Association for the 2008 show and would like to include the Ruger Collectors Association with us. If we get ten (10) or more Ruger themed displays, we will add a special trophy and monetary reward for Rugers only, in addition to the regular trophy and prize moneys offered at each display show. All displayers will receive award recognition.

Friday, September 19, will be set-up day for the vendors and displayers. On the Thursday evening before the show, our club will host a bar-b-que buffet and reception, in conjunction with our regular club meeting. Tickets are only $13.00 each and will need to be reserved by August 1, 2008.

Our headquarters hotel is the Renaissance Dallas Hotel, 2222 Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75207, phone 214-631-2222, which is across the parking lot from the Market Hall, and special show rates are offered.

If we get a commitment from at least ten Ruger Displayers, we will add the RCA to our advertising. For reference for our shows, please contact fellow Ruger collector Don Findley, as he often sets up at our shows to represent Ruger to the North Texas gun show public. This is an excellent opportunity for fellow Ruger collectors and enthusiasts to get together and display our fine firearms. If you have never displayed this would be a good to begin!

Annual Fall Display Show - Tulsa, OK.

The RCA will be holding its annual Fall Display Show in conjunction with the Tulsa Arms Show on November 8-9, 2008 in Tulsa, OK.
In order to ensure that all Ruger Collectors' displays are together, the Show staff has asked that all Ruger display applications be submitted and paid in full by October 8, 2008. Display tables will be $60 and displayers are responsible for registering on their own. The Show staff will collect payment directly from each displayer. To register, you may contact Mark or Shirley with the Tulsa Arms Show at 918-492-0401 or you can go directly on their website, www.tulsaarmsshow, download the application (in the Exhibitor tab), fill it out and mail it in with your payment. When contacting them, either by phone or mail, please be sure to let them know that you are with the Ruger displayers and provide them with your name and title for your display.

The RCA has secured a block of 20 hotel rooms at the Sleep Inn (intersection of 33rd & Memorial) for any displayer or show attendee. Each person is responsible for making their own reservations, phone: 918-663-2777, and providing their credit card information for payment. The RCA rate is $89.99 per night. There are 11 double rooms and 9 single rooms in the block. Reservations must be made by midnight, September 14, 2008. Any unused rooms at that time will be released to the general public and a room is no longer guaranteed. Hotel rooms tend to book fairly quickly for this show so book early!

As in the past, an RCA banquet will be help on Saturday night for our Awards Ceremony, RCA business discussion, as well as our Fund Raising auction. More information will be available at the show regarding time and place.

RCA Fund Raising Auction - Tulsa Show


Similar to what the RCA is doing at the Harrisburg Show, we are planning on holding a live auction to help raise funds for future display shows. All of the items to be auctioned will be donated by members (either in attendance or not) and all of the proceeds will go to help run the display shows, the NRA show, fund trophies, improve the recruitment tables, get member badges, table covers, etc.

For the Harrisburg Show auction, we had 16 people donate over 50 items which raised over $2500. This was a fantastic turn-out for a first time auction. We hope to continue the trend and raise more funds for our future display shows. The auction will be held after the banquet on Saturday night. Location and time still to be determined.
