To be or not to be, that is the question. 9128 0
Started by Facklerrebel
Just acquired a 1961-1962 vintage Old Model Ruger Single Six. Thought I had issues with the firing pin, but a phone call to Ruger Customer Service cleared my confusion and it appears there is no problem at all. Of course the acid test, is a live fire which I have not done to date, but plan to soon. The question is, Ruger urged me to send it in for a free upgrade to a New Model. Will this not devalue the pistol, since a, they don't make it anymore, and b, it will not be original either. Thanks fo...

Alphabet Bearcat Cyliner 7524 0
Started by EFR
Greetings folks. New member, looking for advice.
I recently picked up an older Bearcat which is missing the cylinder. It is what I believe you refer to as an Alphabet Bearcat, serial B57X. The gun is in excellent condition, just missing the cylinder. I can't seem to find a replacement cylinder anywhere. I called Ruger, who said to send it to NH and they would fit it with a cylinder. Well, the gun is boxed up and ready to go, but I just spoke with a gentleman this morning that referred m...

Three Hawkeye pistols sold at auction 5653 0
Started by mongochicago
At the recent Rock Island Auction, there were three Hawkeye pistols up for bids. The high bids (without the buyers premium added) were $2,199.00 each for two of them and $2,688.00 for the third. You can still see them on their web catalog if interested. Two were rated 98 and one near new condition.

Need some advice on a 1954 Single Six with Ivory grips 6180 0
Started by Brokegunner
Hi, I posted this up on the Ruger Forums and it was suggested that I post it here.
I was at a local ''honey hole'' a few weeks ago and the owner had saved a flat-gate single six for me with what appears to be original Ivory grips. He bought it from a widow and hung onto it for me since he knows I buy any SA Ruger that comes in. I paid about what a new Single Six goes for, so I think I got a pretty good deal regardless of the condition or value ;)
Here are the pics:

Satin finish on old model Blackhawk 5771 0
Started by donkat15
Anyone heard of S/S satin finish on 1972 Blackhawk .357 Ser. is 31-36***. From a friend in early 80's. It is all satin except for the black rear sight and screws. Has ''S'' stamped in rear of cylinder. Ruger rep. verified date and the ''S'' for stainless. But most Ruger people say no stainless in 1972. Appreciate any info 3 screw, of course and letter stamping is very clean.

Need value of old Bearcat serial 730xx 7771 0
Started by OlTimer
I'm tying to get a value for a Bearcat with serial no. 730xx. The Ruger website indicates from the serial number it would have been manufactured in 1967 but I thought it was older than that. It has the walnut grip, gold-colored trigger guard and etched barrel. It's been kept in new condition and has no scratches or marks on it. Appreciate any assistance.

3 Screw .41 Magnum Fire or not to Fire? 7990 0
Started by predsfan98
Hello,
I picked up a .41 Magnum OM Blackhawk made in 1972 at a local gun show recently. It came in the original box with instruction and parts manual. Once I got home and really checked it out, I noticed that it didn't look to have been fired. I took it to a local gun shop and he said that it looked unfired. My question is: Is it worth much more if it's unfired Or can I shoot it and not devalue it too much Thanks for any help guys!

"New" Old Model 6749 0
Started by Boschloper
After owning and shooting New Models (I am more of a shooter than collector) for almost 40 years, I decided it was time to try an Old Model. My first choice was a 6.5'' .357, second was a .30 Carbine, third was a Single Six, etc. Last Tuesday, a very nice little Single Six followed me home. No box, no papers, no magnum cylinder, I literally walked out of the shop with the receipt in one hand and the gun in the other. It came with a Hogue Monogrip (Why), and as soon as I got home I switched ...

Flat top blackhawk 357, year 1957 8777 0
Started by jrscalf
Hello,
New member here, and I have a question on my Blackhawk.
The serial number is different then I have seen before. Serial 98150, but the 5 is raised a little bit and there is a period stamped under the bottom left of the 5, the 0 is a little bit lower then the 981.
Since I thought it was a 5 digit number I always thought it was a 1967 model. I bought it used in the 1970's so did not have exact information.
I received a certification from Ruger and it states it was shipped June 1957 an...

I need the rest of the story. 7132 0
Started by JohnnySS6
My father in law recently passed away. Many years ago I recall him telling the story of a Ruger factory mistake.
A small lot of single action barrels were drilled through during the process of mounting the front site. The barrels were shortened to a non-standard length and then had their front sites mounted.
These were un-cataloged but sold.
Does anyone know if this true
What model
Where could I find the affected serial number range
Any help is much appreciated.

SBH 6 1/2 barrel 5116 0
Started by rmgreen
Recently I purchased a SBH that I had though to be altered. However, on further inspection I had purchase one of the approximately 600 SBH that left the factory with a 6 1/2 barrel sn: 25XXX. I am not a collector. I would like to sell or trade for a flat top or SBH 3 screw none pre-fix that is not of collector quality for high grading (engraving and the like). barrels which have been properly shorten, original blue(Non-pitted) worn, etc acceptable for trade. Good serviceable pistol required....
