    Just signed up.

I am a USG retired, crusty, old guy , pushing 70, and I live in the Washington DC suburbs. Aside from guns, my intersts are reading history; dogs -- we have three; flyfishing; and deer hunting.

I have a modest collection of Rugers to include about 33 Ruger 1s, a few pistols, 77s, an O/U, and several rimfires. I like Ruger prodcuts becasue they are rugged, mostly handsome, and reliable. I do not blanch from criticizing shortcomings in them when i see them but, all in all, they give good service and I enjoy them. I have sold off most of the other brands .

I do not consider myself a pure collector as I shoot most of the Rugers at the range and in the field. Moreover, I have customized quite a few run of the mill #1s into calibers and profiles that Ruger does not issue, so I am hardly pure as the driven snow in terms of original condition collection standards. I have serious recoil pads put on heavy kickers;have most triggers de-lawyered; free float rilfes that do not group; and reseal the wood stocks.

    Most of my #1s are Bs -- I don't particulalry like the AH forearms. My most collectable #1s include a 1AB in 7x57, a 1AH in 7mm 08, a 1B in 7x57, and a Lyman Centennial II Edition. My custom #1s include a 9.3 x 62 , a 300 H&H, a 338-06, a .338 Federal in 1B profile; a 7mm BR and 6.5 Swede in a custom stalking rifle profile; and a 6.8 SPC II in a 1A style. I also have quite a few of the Lipsey special run #1s. My biggest bore #1 is a 375 H & H. My smallest is a 204 Ruger. I have 1Vs in .25 06 and 7mm RM.

My politics are right wing, I refer a strong hop-taste in beer -- when the docs allow it. And I'm notorious for typos and cyber-challenged. I prefer not to mix religion and politcs when guns are the main issue at hand.

    Strength to your arm,

    Welcome aboard Pard.

Living in europe and not having a collectors license yet, I am also using most of my rugers to actually shoot! :D
Not really a big problem. At least until i get some of the real goodies... :?

    Welcome, oneb!

Sounds like you have quite a good collection started. Good for you. There are a few #1 collectors amongst us and you will learn a lot from these esteemed members.

I know it's short notice for you but you are very close to Harrisburg, PA, the location of one of our annual display shows taking place this weekend as part of the MidAtlantic Arms Collectors show. There will be over 30 tables of Rugers and Ruger-related stuff being displayed and bought/sold. If you don't have plans, swing on up and say hello. What better way to make an entrance!!??

    Kindest regards,

    BB45C

    BB45C,

Thanks for the invite. I might just be there if I get the gout under control by then.

That would be great! I look forward to meeting you. You won't be able to miss us...we'll be right in the middle of the show with all of the Rugers :D

Stop by and say hello, stay for dinner, we're having our awards banquet Saturday night. It's very casual and a lot of fun.

I hope to see you there.

    Regards,

    Matt
