    Hello all,

This revolver is a 70's Ruger Blackhawk with a SuperBlackhawk grip frame. I can't find any markings to indicate who did the engraving and unfortunately the seller wasn't the original owner and had no information to share. Any guidance you could offer on who did this work would be greatly appreciated.

There are three initials on the top of the backstrap that appear to be EAL. These look to be acid-etched rather than engraved are are quite large, so I'm assuming that these were the owner's initials rather than the engraver's.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi Steve,

Thank you for the reply. I checked under the grips and everyplace else I can think to look, but I don't see any marks anywhere.

I don't suppose it matters too much, as I think that whoever did it did a nice job. It would just be nice to know.

    Best wishes,

David, I am sure that you probably pulled the base pin and looked there but if not I have seen a few signed underneath there or under the ejector rod housing.

Thank you for the suggestions. I checked both places and there aren't any marks. Drats...

Thanks for the photos, The cuts are good and the layout is executed well. I'd contact the

Firearms Engravers Guild of America. FEGA members may have seen this man work before.

    Nice SA

Might a ""Letter of Authenticity"" from Ruger contain such information?

    Hi Ned,

I don't think so, because this revolver was modified. It started its life as a New Model Blackhawk and at some point in time, a Super Blackhawk grip frame was added. I don't think this was done at the factory, as the bluing on the grip frame is different from the rest of the revolver.

Thank you for the suggestion though - I appreciate your effort!
