I was very fortunate to be able to buy three John Wootters #00054 rifles from Lee Newton at Classic Firearms a few years back (a Model 96 in 22 WMR, a model 96 in 44 Mag & at 10/22 in 22 WMR). I have shot both the 22 WMRs but the 44 is yet unfired. I would like to get letters from Ruger establishing their date of manufacture & shipment to Mr. Wootters. Any suggestions ?

    RIP JOHN WOOTTERS

Send a written request to Ruger at the Southport location, list the #54 guns and ask them to verify in writing that they were shipped to writer John Wooters. Indicate your phone number and ask that they call you for a credit card number, as I'm sure they will charge you for the time to research each gun.

It is important to indicate each gun, over the years some of the low number guns didn't go to the person they were assigned to.

    Good luck, John
